I'm a teenage girl and even I was distressed by this commercial. A lot of people are saying that it's funny and no one should take it seriously. So okay, I'm not taking it seriously. It's a cartoon. But my jaw dropped in disgust the moment the ad was done. Marketing may be full of risks, but this ad was pushing the envelope a little too far.

The ad is amusing. I have found, throughout my life experiences, that the more sacredly devout and absolutist a Roman Catholic is, the more nasty and duplicitous they are, especially those who hold themselves to be "nicer" or more "decent" than other sinners. Pedophile priests, for instance, are notably beyond reproach in their angelic purity and outrage at the "sexist" behavior of others. The social and political power in this church resides in the secrets, the guilt of which they use as a currency for inclusion and control of others. I cannot name the countless number of times Catholics, particularly those who have gone through the parochial system, have intimated to me that, though they put on a cherubic face, sing heartfelt hymns in choir, ostensively selflessly serve the public ascribing to self sacrifice and the virtues of long suffering and poverty but will quietly tell you with a private wink and a nudge that "We knowhow the Real world Really works and do what we will to get ours behind the scenes, don't we? I call this sort of person "Cathoholic". If an acolyte should complain of having been buggered behind the alter by such a person, ll he has got to say is, "Who are you going to believe, that disguising, blasphemous vulgar little boy or me? And then make sure the boy is soundly punished for HIS "sin". In short, as Bertrand Russell said, "It's the NICEST people who, in fact, have the NASTIEST minds among us! I'll take up some of the slack for people above who are too NICE to drink Red Bull and I'll drink extra RED Bull myself for Anne, Bridgette, Roberta, Angie, Bob, Theresa, Etc. Man, I'll got enough energy and testosterone to visit the post office, grocery store and school several times today! Of course, I'll direct that energy into fervent prayer and good works. Bless you Freddie, you are forgiven, my son. PS, it turns out, anonymous, that women are around who pursue loose men for sex and are not generally held in to much disgust for having done so. In fact, I think most of them openly praise God every time they are successful! I'm the only one I know of who managed to marry a virgin. I'm proud to say that she thanks God often and loudly! She deserves another Red Bull!

My Uncle Louie (who was a good Catholic) told jokes like this all the time, even to respectable members of the clergy, who still laugh at those memories and what a good nut my uncle was. Uncle Louie was just one of those guys who could pull it off, without being even slightly offensive, because he had a heart of gold and the decency to be sure that people knew he was just clowning around. Without all of the charm and soul that it takes to pull it off, this joke turns into the same sort of cheap and needless crap, that Red Bull is in itself. God Bless You Uncle Louie. We Miss You... You Nut!!!

Wow! How desperate do advertisers have to be these days to resort to this. I'm liberal, Catholic and have a great sense of humor. Sorry, I'm not impressed. It is sexist.

    1. Offensive to women, progressives, conservatives, liberals, men who love women, Catholics and Christians. 2. Backward - the use of the term "loose women" is just plain backward. 3. Stupid - Red Bull thinks highly of its customers -- casual, manipulative sex-obsessed liars. 4. Immoral - tells young people who can related to the characters that locker room talk about women is okay, cheap sex is okay, lying is okay, etc. Duh! I bet Red Bull would never have had a girl walk into confession to try to find "loose men" to pursue for sex.

The Commercial is a direct reference to an 2011 Academy Award Nominated Live Action Short Film called The Confession. Red Bull didn't even come up with it.

In a word, garbage. The drink, the commercial, and most probably, the creators of both. The fact that we exist among human refuse doesn't necessarily require us to become it. Rise above brothers and sisters and let's forgive those less fortunate than us. I'm not sure what part of the bull they pulled this one out of.

In a word, blasphemy: No priest would EVER inquire about the identity of a penitent or bring the sins of third persons into the confessional. By the way, this dirty "joke" is about 50 years old, but until today, nobody thought it appropriate to put on the air. "What does it profit a man . . . ? As for other commentors who are not Catholic or see this as harmless, please try to develop some emphathy for those whose sacred institutions are vulgarized. Some day it might be your ox being gored.

You know you people are taking soo much offense to a 20- second commercial are you all really that bored to dissect a commercial. Yes red-bull is targeted for teens and college kids, not for the 38 year old soccer mom.

This commercial is quite offensive. It really makes me angry. Not only for it being disrespectful of a religion but also disrespectful of women. It's promoting promiscuity of teenage boys and promoting disrespect and degradation of women. It shows that Redbull's marketing company is not intelligent enough to come up with a strategy that can get the same attention but with less offense.

No wonder this was banned in France. I'm not Catholic, though I am a Christian, and I am shocked that anyone in advertising would consider this acceptable. I already disapprove of energy drinks and all those types of products, but now instead of being quietly opposed, I find myself wanting to very vocally protest such an offensive approach to product sales.

What if gays were targeted this way? Or handicapped? Would you still laugh? How about Islam if the previous examples don;t speak to you? This ad is absolutely unacceptable. Extremely offensive because it targets a Holy Sacrament. Red Bull has reached a lower low than Skins.

relax a little, the business of advertising is full of risk, exposure, and inappropriate satirical. As adults it's up to us to perceive this how we will. This add was meant to appeal to men, not so much offend Catholics, and or women. We can't have grown so sensitive as a world that we can't laugh and allow some things to just roll off of us. Had a comedian demonstrated the exact same scenario with a stand up parody, at a show we'd attended, honestly we would laugh. We wouldn't sit there and go hey man that's offensive I'm leaving your show. however since it was used as a commercial advertisement the content is grossly perverted into being something it is no. I find this commercial to be a very creative look into the mind of a male youth. In all honesty, that's what you guys are, doing anything to make an easy score, so it is funny to see to length they would go to to reach their goal. I like the guts red showed in doing this particular skit. It seems like everything offends someone nowadays. If that is true, turn off your T.V. that is how you really get away from it all.

I don't understand how anyone could say this commercial does not offend the Catholic Church or offend women. How sad that this company thinks it is okay to parody a beautiful sacrament in such an inappropriate way. It is not even about a confession, but a way to continue to sin. What a horrible example to put out there for everyone to see!

As a Catholic I find this ad offensive. It shows blatant disrespect for Catholic beliefs, a sacrament of the Church, priests and women. If this ad were aimed at ANY other non-christian religious group (substitute your choice of Islam, Hindu, or Jewish etc.) there would be public outrage over the "intolerance" of the ad. Those who have found it funny should ask themselves if it would still be funny if it targeted....let's say Islamic beliefs.

This ad is disgusting. Very poor taste for an ad campaign. Adults should be trying to elevate our youths and not encourage vulgarity. This ad belittles the Catholic Church and women. Shame on you Red Bull. You'll get nothing but bad press from me.

As a devout Catholic I am appalled that you would blasphemously jeer at the beliefs of an entire faith in order to amuse the vulgar. Moreover, as a woman I am offended by such shameless objectification of my sex. I will be boycotting your company, and actively encouraging everyone I know to do the same, unless this discriminatory and irreverent ad is taken off the air.

This commercial is course, vulgar and really very deeply offensive. Any person of faith should be very angry at how one of the most sacred and private aspects of a religion is being desecrated. It is despicable to slander and profane the sacred for the sake of commercial titallation and profit. Shame on you Redbull!

How is this in any way offensive? How prudish! As a woman and raised Catholic, I find this funny and cute. It's not offending the Catholic church; it's not offending women; if anything, it's making fun of boorish, womanizing teenage boys. tsk tsk, some people need to loosen up.

this commercial is disgusting. Not funny. This company should be banned from showing these types of things on television. Why anyone other than a woman abusing pig would find this funny is beyond me. I was it on the internet advertising the MTV show Skins, which should also be put off the air. What is wrong with you people?
